Emerald Oil is a chlorella-infused facial elixir built on a 70/30 squalane-jojoba base — a ratio deliberately chosen because it mirrors the molecular composition of your skin's own sebum. The result is an oil your epidermis recognizes on contact: no heaviness, no residue, just an instantaneous velvety finish that works at barrier level, not on top of it. Then we steeped it with two of nature's most quietly powerful botanicals — freshwater chlorella algae and rare blue tansy — and let time do the rest.

Active Ingredients

Three ingredients.
One coherent formula.

01 The Base

70% Squalane · 30% Jojoba

Your skin's language, spoken fluently.

Human sebum is a complex lipid matrix — and squalane is the one topical ingredient considered molecularly identical to its primary hydrocarbon component, squalene. Applied to skin, it doesn't sit on the surface: it integrates into the lipid barrier the way a native molecule would. Clinical research has shown topical squalane can increase skin moisture by up to 40% while simultaneously reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) — meaning it both adds hydration and seals it in.

Jojoba brings a complementary architecture. Technically a liquid wax ester rather than an oil, it is structurally close to the wax ester fraction of human sebum — and unlike triglyceride oils, it resists oxidation on the skin surface, staying stable and clean throughout the day. Together at a 70:30 ratio, squalane and jojoba provide a biomimetic canvas that delivers a featherlight, non-greasy finish with zero adjustment period. Your skin simply accepts it.

02 The Hero Botanical

Chlorella Vulgaris

2.5 billion years of evolution. Freshwater-clean. Zero ocean compromise.

Chlorella vulgaris is a single-celled freshwater microalgae that has drawn growing scientific attention for its antioxidant capacity, nutrient density, and barrier-supporting properties. Rich in amino acids, vitamins, chlorophyll, and naturally occurring peptides, it has been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis in human fibroblasts — with one study demonstrating a 30% increase in collagen I production at a 0.4% concentration, rising to 50% at higher concentrations. The same chlorophyll that gives this oil its signature green tone carries documented anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness, calm irritation, and support the skin's healing response.

Beyond its active profile, chlorella helps protect against collagen degradation by reducing the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) — the enzyme responsible for breaking down collagen over time — making it as relevant for prevention as it is for repair.

Ours is different. The chlorella in Emerald Oil is grown in a sealed, freshwater closed-loop cultivation system — completely isolated from the open ocean. This is not a minor sourcing detail. Open-water algae carries real contamination risk: heavy metals, microplastics, industrial runoff, and marine pollutants can all concentrate in algae harvested from uncontrolled aquatic environments. Our pristine closed-loop system eliminates that risk entirely, delivering a crop that is 100% free from ocean-derived contaminants, and verified clean from the moment it's cultivated to the moment it reaches your skin.

03 The Rare Addition

Blue Tansy

The rarest blue in skincare. Every drop, earned.

Blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) is one of the most prized — and genuinely rare — essential oils in high-end skincare. Its signature ink-blue color comes from chamazulene, a sesquiterpene compound that forms during steam distillation of the plant and is responsible for the oil's remarkable anti-inflammatory activity. Chamazulene works by inhibiting leukotriene and prostaglandin production — the same inflammatory mediators targeted by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs — making blue tansy a powerful, plant-derived calming agent for reactive, sensitized, or redness-prone skin.

In addition to its anti-inflammatory action, blue tansy delivers antioxidant protection, supports skin cell regeneration, and has documented antibacterial and antifungal properties that make it particularly effective for acne-prone and compromised complexions. It is ideal for any skin type, and especially transformative for conditions like rosacea, eczema, and environmental sensitivity.

A note on its rarity: Tanacetum annuum is not easy to cultivate. It grows in limited regions, is at risk of over-farming, and produces a low oil yield per harvest — which is precisely why most formulations that include it use it sparingly. In Emerald Oil, it earns its place.

The Standard We Hold

No ocean.
No compromise.

Our chlorella is cultivated inside a pristine freshwater closed-loop system — sealed from the open ocean and the contamination risks that come with it. Open-water algae can accumulate heavy metals, microplastics, and industrial runoff as a natural consequence of its growth environment. We remove that variable entirely.

The result is an ultra-clean crop, sustainably cultivated, and verified free from:

  • Marine pollutants
  • Heavy metals
  • Microplastics
  • Industrial runoff

When the ingredient is this biologically active, purity isn't a selling point. It's a clinical requirement.

Free from: parabens, synthetic fragrance, silicones, mineral oil, PEGs, and ocean-sourced contaminants.

Application

How to use.

Apply 3–5 drops to clean skin, morning or evening. Press gently into face, neck, and décolletage — do not rub. For best results, apply to slightly damp skin to enhance squalane's carrier-molecule absorption. Can be worn alone or layered beneath SPF. The oil's featherlight texture absorbs in seconds, leaving no residue on skin or fingers. Suitable for all skin types. Particularly effective for dry, sensitized, redness-prone, and barrier-compromised skin.

The Research Behind It
